On Saturday 2nd July from 1pm till 4pm, Happitots Nursery Thornliebank held its annual Summer Fair where they managed to raise  £1548.40 for Help for Heroes!

Activities that the children had fun doing included:

  • Guess the Teddy’s Name Clue, its not ‘Teddy’!
  • Hair Braiding
  • Wax Melts Stall
  • Petting Zoo
  • Photo Opportunities al pacas, fire-engines, diggers and more!

The children loved getting up close to the alpacas, South American animals closely related to llamas. Watching the children feed the alpacas carrots was lovely to watch.

The children had the opportunity to sit in actual diggers and fire-engines. Much fun was had with the water hose!

Our raffle helped to raise money for Help For Heroes!

Many of the children took part in having their hair braided as well as being transformed into dinosaurs by our excellent face-painter.

Stalls were included making money for charity by selling coffees, cakes and cards.

There will also be plenty of activities for adults as well…

These include:

  • A Psychic Reader
  • Bingo
  • Raffles

All of this is in aid of our chosen charity for this year, Help For Heroes.

Our excellent manager at Happitots Thornliebank, Danielle Kelly, says:

“After two trying years of dealing with the pandemic, we finally look forward to opening up the doors of our nursery to the community again. It’s great a great day to celebrate and get everyone together, it’s a wonderful opportunity for parents to meet, chat and get to know each other.

This year, we have chosen to Help For Heroes as our charity of choice in memory of our colleague, Gregor, who passed away in October of 2021. Gregor was a huge part of our nursery environment and will be missed by our colleagues and the children.

We raised £1548.40 for Help for hero’s after costs.

Our summer fayre was a great success , we had an amazing turnout from not only families of the nursery but from our local community. All the staff worked tiredly throughout the week to pull this event off and we would like to thank them from the bottom of our hearts for all the time and effort they put in and also for giving up their weekend to make this event happen.

We would also like to thank Pollock Fire Station for giving up their time to attend the event , as well as Kenny’s Iceies and really awesome coffee Lanark, as well as our stall holders, Abbie, Paula , Caroline and Jill. We look forward to our next event.

We are open to suggestions about which charity we support in 2023.
