My childcare career spans over 40 years, with 25 of these has been spent managing childcare services. During this time, I have seen many changes, however my passion for childcare and getting it right for every child is still as strong as it was when I first entered the sector. Within the nursery we provide a warm welcoming, family friendly environment where you can bring your little one feeling confident in the knowledge that you are leaving them with a dedicated team in a safe, warm and nurturing environment that has been developed to offer them a wide range of experiences and learning opportunities.
We will guide you through every step of your childcare journey and help you discover everything you need to know about our nursery. Come and join our family across the UK. My son has been attending Happitots Boddam since he was 15 months old and has had the experience of each room as he has progressed through the nursery. I can honestly say I would highly recommend, the support and care my son has received has been more than I could have asked. He experiences a range of different activities throughout the day which have helped so much with his development, for a long time my son struggled with his speech and the staff have been super on the ball with supporting him and he has come on leaps and bounds. I always receive a detailed report at the end of the day regarding his food intake, his toileting needs, the activities he has been up to and his behaviour throughout the day. Anytime I have ever had an issue it has been addressed and sorted from management as soon as. My son has always struggled whenever I have left him with anyone other than me, but that little boy runs into nursery everyday he’s in with the biggest smile on his face.
Very well-run nursery. Both of my children love going to the nursery. Staff and management very helpful and welcoming. Staff always welcome you into the building and tell you what the children have been up to that day.
Both my three year old and one year old attend Happitots Nursery Boddam and have done since they were nine months old. They attend regularly and now on weekends even ask if they can go to nursery. I think that says a huge amount about how much of a positive impact the staff have on our children. They absolutely love them all and enjoy every second of being with their nursery family.
We love to get outside here at Happitots Boddam! Great use is made of our gardens, each of which is dedicated to different stages of development.
Our Babies can use a range of age-appropriate resources including a slide and trampoline. We have a messy mud kitchen and willow area which our Toddlers love playing in, zooming about on bikes and much more! There is also a large outdoor area that our pre-schoolers can access directly.
This area includes a concrete area for physical games, a grass area for active play, a mud kitchen for exploring, large climbing apparatus, a bug hotel, natural materials for construction and exploring, and a vegetable and flower garden where the children plant, observe and help grow vegetables and flowers.
We regularly take children out in our local community and offer opportunities for our children to visit the Local Park and beach. It is our belief that there is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing, so we ask that parents provide their children with appropriate clothing for all types of weather.
We are committed to being an environmentally friendly nursery, making changes wherever we can in order to make the world a cleaner place! At Happitots Boddam Nursery we are committed to teaching our children about their environment and the effect we have on it in our day to day lives.
Our curriculum includes a Realising the Ambition: Being Me framework in conjunction with Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence approach that offers hands-on perspectives to encourage the skills your child will need in the nursery and beyond:

Our nurseries offer a wide range of nursery activities and extras to enrich every child’s experience at nursery and to support busy parents.
Our qualified teachers work closely with our preschool children and their key workers to ensure that children make good progress within all aspects of their development in readiness for school.
Our nursery encourages children to celebrate festivals throughout the year. This is one of the best ways for children to learn about different religions and cultures by celebrating various world religious festivals, food tasting from different countries and dressing up in the national dress of their friends.
We believe that reading should be lots of fun, so we run a mini-library service to encourage children to share their favourite stories with their parents, and to help busy parents keep the bookshelf engaging at home! Our nurseries organise regular library visits as part of the learning process.
Taking part in fundraising activities helps children to learn about others that are less fortunate than themselves and to understand how we can help them. Fundraising events are good fun and are a great way to bring children, families and communities together. Some of the fundraisers we have taken part in are: sponsored toddles, superhero days, baking cakes to sell and garden parties.
We celebrate the big move to primary school with a special graduation ceremony each year!
We encourage Heuristic Play with our 1–2-year-olds, embracing every child’s natural curiosity. Heuristic play involves offering children a range of different objects and receptacles with which they are encouraged to play freely without adult instruction.
Our nurseries offer free settling-in sessions. Parents can bring their child for a couple of hours first, gradually introducing the child to a new environment. Settling-in sessions are aimed at helping your child to adapt to their new surroundings and become more familiar with the staff and other children.
Our E-Learning journals and Parent Zone app allow you to see your child’s activities at nursery with the click of a button. Staff upload images and notes about your child’s participation in activities at nursery for you to access wherever you are. The nursery tablets we have offer exciting and stimulating learning experiences tailored to challenge and engage little ones.
Just another way we aim to make life run a little smoother for our families – many of our nurseries offer delivery acceptance. You can have deliveries/parcels/post sent to your nursery and collect anything when you come to the nursery for pick-up!
Daily Mile is physical activity and health and well-being in a social, outdoors context. It is not active play, physical education or outdoor learning, although participating in The Daily Mile can encourage curiosity and interest in outdoor environments in keeping with wider outdoor learning opportunities. The main goal is to increase daily activity.
Wherever we can we encourage children to partake in preparing their meals at nursery. We love to see our preschool children take pride in their culinary creations and enjoy healthy and delicious food.
