Our Nursery Manager Hayley has several years of experience working with children of all ages as childcare has been a passion of hers from an early age. She also has two of her own! She began her career back in 2007 at Preston NHS nursery, working across all age ranges throughout her time in the nursery and had taken on varying roles and progressing to management through the senior roles before achieving her Full Time position of Nursery Manager 6 years ago. She has since gained further qualifications that support her role in management. Achieving the Outstanding Grading from OFSTED in 2018 in one centre and then again in 2019 supporting a new nursery was a huge career highlight! At Corner House Poplars, she supports her staff team to ensure her nursery provides a secure family environment where children are encouraged to learn and grow into confident, creative and happy individuals.
We can guide you through every step of your childcare journey and help you discover everything you need to know about our nursery.
I have had two children attend Poplars Nursery from 2 years old until heading off to school. The staff are so hard working, compassionate and committed. It is a fantastic nursery with such a nurturing yet stimulating environment for the children!
My daughter started in March 2020 and has been there ever since. We have experience in the baby room, and now the toddler room, and I cannot recommend them enough. All the ladies who work there have a huge love and passion for the job they do, you can see the relationship they build with my child and it’s magical to see. My daughter enjoys every single day there, coming home with stories and songs to share. The communication and trust I have with this nursery is second to none, they are absolutely wonderful!
Our eldest son has been at Poplars for more than 2 years. In that time he has flourished into a confident, happy, outgoing boy and we couldn’t ask for anything better in terms of care and progression. We are updated daily on activities via the app which allows us to understand how our son’s day has been and what fun and interesting things he has been involved with. More recently time has been invested to get our eldest child ready for “big school” which has been really well received, by both our son and us as parents. We are so happy with the service that Poplars provides that our second child is signed up to start there in September! Would definitely recommend this nursery to friends and family.
We love to get outside at Corner House Poplars! We have substantial gardens providing opportunities for outdoor learning across all areas of the curriculum. Along with a healthy, balanced diet, children need lots of fresh air and exercise. We are very lucky to have a variety of outdoor areas at Poplars and this enables all children to access the outdoors on a daily basis – whatever the weather. In the large outdoor spaces children are able to run and play freely whilst accessing the many activities and resources on offer. We also provided structured sessions of movement to music, dance and ball skills.
As well as access to our fabulous outdoor play areas, children of all ages enjoy regular walks in the local area. We take children out in groups, come rain or shine, to take part in a variety of activities set up by our staff. We have a detailed, but comprehensive planning system in place to support children’s play and exploration both in and outdoors. During our time outside we teach children how to assess risk, problem solve, share, gather and utilise from nature.
Our youngest children are often seen out in our triple buggies enjoying the fresh air, sights and sounds of the local community. We use high visibility vests to keep children safe when out on trips away from the nursery. All children leave wellington boots and waterproof clothing at nursery so they can be appropriately dressed for all seasons!
We are committed to being an environmentally friendly nursery, making changes wherever we can in order to make the world a cleaner place! We are committed to teach our children about their environment and the effect we have on it in our day to day lives.
Our curriculum includes a Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage that offer hands-on approaches to encourage the skills your child will need in the nursery and beyond:

The team from The Petite Acting Academy are passionate about improving self-esteem and confidence in young children. They have developed an innovative drama programme that specialises in encouraging children’s imagination through drama techniques.
Playmakers is to help children get involved and active in group and singular physical activity or community play. By incorporating teamwork, developing skills, having fun and also bonding, we can have the most amount of fun while we get in our daily exercise and socialising too!
Taking part in fundraising activities helps children to learn about others that live differently, or are in disadvantaged situations and understand how we can help them. Fundraising events are good fun and a great way to bring children, families and communities together. Some of the fundraisers we have taken part in are: Children In Need, sponsored toddles, Macmillan coffee morning, superhero days and garden parties.
Our nurseries offer free settling in sessions. Parents can bring their child for a couple of hours first, gradually introducing the child to a new environment. Settling in sessions are aimed at helping your child to adapt and become more familiar with the staff and children, but also help you adapt to their surroundings and feel safe and secure when your little one joins us.
Our E-Learning Journals allow you to see your child’s activities at nursery with the click of a button. Your little one’s Keyworker will upload images and notes about your child’s development, any useful updates from their day and participation in activities at nursery for you to access wherever you are. Our nursery tablets offer exciting and stimulating learning experiences tailored to challenge and engage little ones.
As part of our curriculum we are committed to ensuring children are physically active for a minimum of 3 hours per day. Physical Development Champions at each nursery are passionate about physical development and create and design specific activities based around movement, raising the heartbeat and exercising the cardiovascular system.
Our nurseries provide an extensive range of resources to encourage children to learn through play. We favour naturalistic learning resources and make fantastic use of our outdoor equipment, promoting free-flow and Child-led learning.
